Homemade Chocolate Milk

ingredients

¼ cup unsweetened natural cocoa powder
3 Tbsp. turbinado sugar
1/8 tsp. sea salt
1/3 cup spring water
3½ cups low-fat milk
¾ tsp. pure vanilla extract
1/8 tsp. pure almond extract (optional)

Serves 4
Serving size: 1 cup

1. Whisk the cocoa, sugar, salt, and water together in a medium saucepan over medium heat until the mixture boils. Boil, whisking, for 30 seconds.
2. Pour in the milk and whisk for 5 minutes or until hot—but don’t let the milk boil.
3. Remove from heat, add vanilla and almond extract (if using), and pour into a heatproof pitcher. Chill. Stir or lightly shake before serving.
