Healthier French Fries

Fast-food french fries in New York City are healthier than those in most other places, according to a study, with 98 percent less trans fat and 10 percent less saturated fat. A ban on trans fats in New York’s restaurant food went into effect in November 2008. More than a dozen other states and localities, including California, have adopted similar laws. Eating trans fats, found in margarine, fried foods, and many baked goods, can raise LDL (“bad”) cholesterol and lower HDL (“good”) cholesterol.
