Diabetes, Middle Age, and Sexual Activity

Sexual dysfunction is a common complication of diabetes. Yet a study of nearly 2,000 men and women with the disease found that middle-aged people with diabetes are just as sexually active as their peers who don’t have it. Of people with partners, about 70 percent of men and 60 percent of women in the study reported having sex two to three times a month. But compared with men who have diabetes, women with diabetes were less likely to discuss sexual problems with a doctor.

At age 80

At age 80, I've had type 2 diabetes, controlled by diet and medication, for 29 years. My sexual activity has been about 4 times a week during that time. Being under a doctors observation and with daily personal blood checks plus regular A1C blood checks has helped tremendously. Typically A1C checks are done every 3 months and tell you if your diet is OK.
